Reflexology is an ancient healing art originating from Chinese and Eastern traditions. Reflexology is a non-intrusive complimentary holistic therapy based on the theory that different points on the hands and feet correspond to different areas of the body. By stimulating and soothing these reflexes, many health issues may benefit in a safe and natural way. Reflexology aids the body's natural healing process and helps it to function more efficiently and effectively.

Reflexology has been used as an effective healing tool for many years. Dating back to 2330 BC in Ancient Egypt many people believed that stimulating specific areas on the hands and feet would replenish the entire body. The word 'reflexology' was devised by a lady named Eunice Ingham (1897 - 1974), a physiotherapist known as the 'mother of Reflexology' in her treatments.
The basic theory behind Reflexology is that the whole body can be mapped out on either the hands or feet with different points, known as reflex points, corresponding to different areas of the body. Many factors in life including stress, injury and illness can cause a state of imbalance in the body, hindering the energy flow. These imbalances can be felt on the hands and feet in the reflexes and through pressure with fingers and thumbs tension can be released and congestion alleviated. Through this stimulation the deposits causing the blockages can be broken down, improving the circulation enabling blood to take oxygen and nutrients to the area and at the same time cleansing the body of the waste products.
The application of Reflexology results in a 'feel good' factor as it stimulates the production of endorphins. Endorphins are thought to be related to mood and stress. Reflexology creates a free flow of energy throughout the body.
Reflexology works on different levels - no two treatments will be the same, just as no two people are the same.
